PROFILE
Dan Kirby, AIA, AICP, LEED AP has dedicated himself to understanding, creating, and improving places where people live, work, and play. He is a registered architect, certified urban planner, and a LEED accredited professional. He has had management and design responsibilities on a variety of projects including hospitality, mixed-use, multi-family communities, interior renovations, campus planning, and convention facilities.
Dan see it as a natural fit that design professionals are among the leading volces in the community. Even prior to becoming a father, Dan learned the importance of working to create an environment where young people have an opportunity to thrive. Over the years, this understanding turned into a commitment of countless volunteer hours. He has been honored as a recipient of the Nils Schweizer Community Service Award and twice selected as on of Orlando Business Journal's 40 Under 40 award.
Dan his extends this belief in the importance of service to his professional work. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Orlando Chapter and Florida Association of the American Institure of Architects and is also a member of the Orange County Urban Design Commission. He has previously been an advisory member of the American Planning Association Board of Directors, a member of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer's Downtown Strategic Transition Team, 3-term Chair of the Maitland Planning & Zoning Commisson, and Chair of the Alumni Board of Governors for the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan.
Dan is an avid fan of college football and major league baseball. His favorite teams are the Florida Gators, Michigan Wolverines, and the New York Mets. He also follows the home town sports teams including: the UCF Knights, the Orlando Magic(NBA), and the Orlando Predators (AFL). Among his personal interests is sailing, and he has earned the American Sailing Association's Basic Keelboat, Coastal Cruising, and Bareboat Chartering certifications.
Dan and his wife Allison, a public school admistrator, and their daughter Elliana live in Orlando.
