My father was born in Rebecca, Georgia. He was a hard-working and dedicated family man, working at vaious jobs including at a dry cleaners. After many years of working in currency and coin control department, he retired from the First National State Bank.
He was stalwart Christian. He played a leading role in the founding of the Greater Abyssinian Baptist Church. He served as a church Deacon, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Supertindent of the Sunday School for over 27 years. During that time, the Church grew from 284 to over 5000 members.
He was also a key person in building the new edifiice for the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Orlando, where his name is listed on the cornerstone.
